"Automation, Communications, Informatics" is a monthly scientific-theoretical and production-technical journal of JSC "Russian Railways". It has been published since 1923, then it was called "Electrical Engineering and Communication on the Railways".

Over the past years, the name of the journal has changed several times: in 1926 – "Communication and electrical engineering", 1932 – "Signaling and communication in railway transport", 1936 – "Signaler", 1957 – "Automation, telemechanics and communication", 1998 – "Automation, communication, informatics". Despite the repeated name change, the purpose of the journal has always remained unchanged – to reflect the processes taking place in the farms of the signaling system, communications and informatization of railway transport.
The purpose of the journal is to convey to a wide range of readers information about scientific developments, new equipment and technologies in the field of automation, telemechanics, telecommunications and computer technology in railway transport and the experience of their application, as well as the strategic directions of activities of the Russian Railways holding.
Scientists, designers, designers, builders, operators, heads of services and divisions of JSC «Russian Railways» make articles in the journal. Line workers share their practical experience.
The target audience of the journal are specialists in the field of railway automation, communications, informatization, first of all, they are employees of JSC «Russian Railways», as well as railway workers from neighboring and far abroad countries. In addition, the journal is in demand among scientific workers involved in the creation and implementation of automation and telemechanics, communications and computer systems for railway transport, teachers and students of specialized universities and secondary educational institutions.

The journal is included in the database of the Russian Science Citation Index.
By the decision of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated January 27, 2016, the journal "Automation, Communication, Informatics" was included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific publications for the following groups of scientific specialties:
05.09.00 – electrical engineering;
05.13.00 – Informatics, Computer Engineering and Management;
05.22.00 – transport.
The journal is included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) database on the Web of Science platform

The journal is registered with the Federal Service for Supervision of Compliance with Legislation in the Sphere of Mass Communications and the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Registration certificate PI No. FS77-21833 dated 07.09.05.
